Councilmember
Bruce Henderson was born in York, South Carolina on
December 31st, 1965 to James and Sylvia Henderson. At an early
age, Bruce’s mother passed away and his father became too ill
to care for him properly. Bruce was then adopted by his
mother’s sister, Dixie Deal, and her husband Dickie Deal.
Bruce graduated from the Clover School District in 1984 and
immediately began work with SE Huffman Corporation from
1984-1988. Even though he was a York resident from 1984-1993,
Bruce surrounded his life with Clover activities and it became
such a part of his life that he moved to Clover in 1993. Bruce
currently resides at 204 Memorial Drive with his beautiful
daughter Lyndsay, while sharing joint custody with her mother.
Bruce is a
2006 Graduate of the Municipal Elected Institute of South
Carolina.
After leaving SE Huffman in 1988, Bruce graduated from the
Mary Brewer Insurance School in Columbia and earned his South
Carolina State Insurance License to write Life, Accident,
Health and Property and Casualty policies. Altogether, Bruce
has been very successful in the insurance industry for 13
years. January 2007, he made a career change. He
works for Barrett-Brown, Inc of Gastonia NC as a
inside/outside salesman. Barrett-Brown is a bearing and power
transmission supplier for this area and the region. In
his spare time he also is co-owner and
operator of the R&B Painting Company located in Clover.
Prior to becoming involved with the Clover Town Council, he
obtained governmental experience while serving on the Clover
Town Planning Commission for two years. Through the Planning
Commission service, and now as a member of the Town Council,
Bruce is able to give back to the people of this community
which played an important role in his personal development.
He is also an active member in the South Gastonia Church of
God where he is involved in a number of church activities
including the choir and teaching. This prayerful foundation of
Bruce’s life will aid and assist him in every decision that
may impact Clover and its citizens. Bruce has extreme faith in
people, and it is these people that make this such a great
country, not what the government does regardless of the level.
He is committed to creating an environment that instigates
positive life and wonderful experiences for everyone, and if
he can be of assistance to anyone, please feel free to call or
email him.
